Hope you enjoy the read, and please feel free to get back to us with any comments or suggestions. The second edition will be out at the end of June (and hopefully with a brand new look!)

Liquour Control Bylaw – Liquor Ban

The “Proposal to amend the Liquor Control Bylaw” as prepared by Wellington City Council and applying to Newtown, Mt Cook and Berhampore and/or the wider city is open to submissions.

The Newtown Residents’ Assn at its last meeting agreed to support a liquor ban for Mt Cook, Newtown and Berhampore. This was on the understanding that a city-wide ban would be supported if that had the support of those communities.

Submissions close at 5pm on Wednesday (TOMORROW) 5 May 2010.

Welcome!

Welcome to the new Newtown Residents Association website.

This website is intended to provide pertinent news and event details for the Association and Residents of Newtown.

The Association in Brief
The Newtown Residents Association exists to promote the interests and community of the residents of the area. We are a group of local residents who gather together to share views on a wide range of matters that might impact on the community in which we live, work and play. Amongst other matters, the Association organises the highly successful Annual Newtown Festival, patronises the Newtown History Project and has a close relationship with Wellington City Council in many matters pertaining to the area.

Join in and be heard!
Association meetings are open to the public and may be attended by anyone. Should voting be necessary on any issue, only the vote of members will be counted. Membership is available to all (16+) residents of Newtown, Mt Cook, Berhampore and those who have an interest in the future well-being of Newtown. Membership is currently by payment of a gold coin (NZ) donation.
